Festivals, Agents and Events

January 27, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Festivals are booming across the globe. Large crowds, incredible entertainment, activations and experiences have thrilled many. Aside from this, event producers are starting to book main stream artists for large scale events as well. Who are the professionals behind the curtains? Toronto alone, has thousands of Festivals through out the year spanning from 5K runs to Pan American Games, not to mention the countless galas, fundraisers and award shows featuring top musicians and artists. What this speaker session/panel will focus on is the people who make it happen. We want to know everything from site selection process, permits, booking the bands/entertainment and all the moving parts that come along with it. How do massive stages get built and placed and how do event producers get bands to play?

We have secured a top line panel where each will take 10-15 min to talk about their focus and how they do what they do, followed by a 45 min panel discussion moderated by a member of the Toronto International Special Events Society. The following are ideas our members and industry would like to hear:

  • Booking outdoor sites and the steps that come with it (working with the city)
  • Permits, licenses, insurance, Police, fire and public health clearances
  • Booking bands the proper way (agents, labels, pricing and execution)
  • Dealing with musicians (riders, backline, flights, per diems and hotel)
  • Dealing with the moving parts (tents, staging, fencing, accessibility and safety)
  • Success, horror stories and tips

Speakers have been secured from:

  • United Talent Agency
  • Feldman Agency
  • Festivals & Events Ontario
  • Wax Records
