Lisa Marks, CSEP, Shaw Communications, Calgary, AB


Lisa is an event industry advocate and leader among her peers locally, nationally and abroad. Lisa graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Haskayne School of Business (University of Calgary) in 2008. She began her work in the industry immediately following graduation with e=mcevents on the event production team and later spent a year working at life experience agency POP Kollaborative as an Event Professional. Since November of 2013, Lisa has been the Manager of Corporate Events for Shaw Communications, leading event strategy and production for the executive team and corporation nationally.

Seeking out deeper involvement in the industry, Lisa began her tenure on the ILEA Calgary Board of Directors in 2010. Lisa has served as the President for ILEA Calgary, Chair of the International MarComm committee, and Chair of ILEA Canada in her 8 years of service. An active contributor in her community, Lisa also sits on the Board of Directors for Mealshare, and provides coaching and mentorship to up and coming professionals across Canada.

Lisa achieved her Certified Special Events Professional designation in 2012 at the age of 27, among the youngest to achieve this certification globally. In both 2013 and 2014, Marks was recognized in Special Events Magazine on the Top 25 Young Professionals to Watch list as the first ever Canadian to be included.

Lisa is extremely proud of Canada’s event industry reputation on the national and international stage and is passionate about the industry having a positive impact on the economy.
