With over 8 years of professional experience, Lisa is an event industry advocate and leader among her peers locally, nationally and abroad. Lisa graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Haskayne School of Business (University of Calgary) in 2008. She began her work in the industry immediately following graduation with e=mcevents on the event production team and later spent a year working at life experience agency POP Kollaborative as an Event Professional. Lisa achieved her Certified Special Events Professional designation in 2012 at the age of 27, among the youngest to achieve this certification globally. An integral part of both production teams, Lisa played a crucial role in several projects that have been honored with multiple national and international event industry awards. Since November of 2013, Lisa has been the Manager of Corporate Events for Shaw Communications, leading event strategy and production for the corporation nationally. In both 2013 and 2014, Marks was recognized in Special Events Magazine on the Top 25 Young Professionals to Watch list as the first ever Canadian to be included.

Seeking out deeper involvement in the industry, Lisa began her tenure on the ILEA Calgary Board of Directors in 2010. She served as the VP of Membership prior to entering the Office of the President for ILEA Calgary as President-Elect in 2012, followed by her tenure as President for the 2013/2014 Chapter year. She took her leadership to the global level and was appointed as the Chair of the International MarComm Committee for ILEA International in 2014. She is now serving the community as the Chair for ILEA Canada and looks forward to bringing cohesive strategy and enthusiasm for the industry to the national level.

Lisa is extremely proud of Canada’s event industry reputation on the national and international stage and is passionate about the industry having a positive impact on the economy.
